Tarzan the Fearless

Crabbe, Buster (Tarzan the Fearless)

Buster Crabbe as Tarzan in the 1933 film serial “Tarzan the Fearless”, with Jacqueline Wells (better known by her later stage name of Julie Bishop) as Mary Brooks, a character intended to take the place of the more traditional Jane, but with a different name to be different from the MGM Tarzan films with Johnny Weissmuller.

This was Crabbe’s only appearance as Tarzan, though he had already played a similar role in “King of the Jungle” as Kaspa the Lion Man, and played similar “Jungle Men” afterwards.
